Power Supply Repair After a Storm

Our latest project involves installing an overhead section of the power supply to the home after a storm washed away the ground surrounding the underground section of the supply. At RTL Trades, we specialise in delivering reliable electrical solutions.

Before 1

Project Scope

The dwelling is serviced by a long driveway and the underground supply that ran parallel to the driveway had a section that was washed away during a storm. After an on-site consultation it was determined that the best option was to re-route the supply across the washed-out gully to overhead on poles.

The terrain was moderately sloping, and the access difficulty rating was moderate.

The Sequence

The sequence commenced with locating the underground supply. A generator was setup to supply the fishpond pump, and the fridges and freezers in the dwelling. Next, the two new hardwood power poles were installed to span the overland flow path. The new three-phase overhead aluminium power supply cables were slung between the two poles and the underground supply was re-routed to the mains connection box on each pole.

After completing all mandatory electrical testing, the mains supply was then re-connected. The project was finished after only 48 hours on site.

Testing and Electrical Certificate

A thorough electrical test was completed, and this included ensuring the fishpond pump and the power supply to the dwelling was fully operational and safe. The electrical certificate was provided to the client. Job done!
